01 Β· Get connected

Your devices find each other

Devices on the same Wi-Fi network discover each other automatically. Pair once, and they reconnect on their own every time after that β€” no account needed.

  1. Join the same Wi-Fi on both devices β€” guest networks and mobile data don't count.
  2. Open Sendu on both. Nearby devices appear on the home screen within seconds.
  3. Desktop not showing? Scan the QR code on the desktop app with your phone to connect directly.
  4. Pair when asked β€” paired devices reconnect automatically from then on.

Sendu on macOS β€” settings

07 Β· Troubleshooting

Fix it in four checks

Nine times out of ten the network is the culprit. Run this checklist top to bottom β€” and if Sendu still misbehaves, we want to hear about it.

  1. Same Wi-Fi? Both devices must be on the same network.
  2. VPN off? VPNs hide devices from each other β€” turn them off on both ends.
  3. Try the QR scan from the desktop app β€” it connects directly when discovery fails.
  4. Restart the app on both devices, then email us your platform + what happened.

Quick answers

Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No. Connecting, sending and receiving never require an account. Devices only need to be on the same local network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) β€” not the internet. Transfers and streaming stay fully inside your network, so Sendu also works offline, on a plane or in a cabin with no connection.
How do I send a file?
Open Sendu on both devices, tap Send, pick one or more files (photos, videos, documents β€” any type), then choose the destination device. The receiver taps Accept and the transfer starts immediately. Both sides see live speed and remaining time, and you can pause or cancel at any moment.
Is there a file size limit?
No. Files travel directly from device to device without passing through a server, so there is nothing to cap them β€” a 20 GB video transfers just as reliably as a single photo, with no compression and no quality loss.
Where do received files go?
Every platform has a Sendu folder, with files sorted into category subfolders (Images, Videos, Documents, …):
  • Android: any file manager β†’ Download/Sendu
  • iPhone & iPad: Files app β†’ On My iPhone β†’ Sendu
  • macOS: the folder you chose on first receive (Downloads is suggested)
  • Windows & Linux:Downloads/Sendu
  • Android TV: the storage volume you picked in Sendu's settings
You can also open everything from the Files tab inside Sendu.
How does streaming to my TV work?
Install Sendu on your Android TV from the Play Store and connect your phone or computer to it like any other device. Pick a video and choose Stream instead of Send β€” it plays on the TV right away, and you pause, seek and stop from your own device. The video travels over your local network only, so no internet connection is needed. Streaming is part of Premium.
What are shared folders, and can others change my files?
A shared folder lets your paired devices browse any folder you choose and download files from it, one at a time β€” like a local Dropbox. It is browse-and-download only: nobody can edit, add or delete anything, and your originals never change. Only your paired devices can see it, and you can stop sharing at any moment from the Shared tab. Shared folders are part of Premium.
Are my transfers private?
Yes. Files go straight from one device to the other over your own network β€” they never touch a cloud or a server, and nothing is stored by us. Every transfer asks the receiver for consent first, and transfers are encrypted end to end.
What does Premium include?
Premium is a lifetime, one-time purchase β€” no subscription. It unlocks streaming to Android TV and shared folders. Sending and receiving files, with no size limit, stays free forever on every platform.
I reinstalled β€” how do I get Premium back?
Open the You tab and tap Restore purchases β€” Premium comes back instantly. On iPhone and Mac the purchase goes through the App Store, so no account is needed. If something still looks wrong, email us and we'll sort it out.
Does Premium work on all my devices?
Yes. Sign in (optional) in the You tab and Premium follows you across phones, computers and TVs. Without an account, Premium is restored through the store you bought it from (the App Store on iPhone and Mac) using Restore purchases.
My devices can't see each other β€” what should I check?
  • Same Wi-Fi? Both devices must be on the same network β€” guest networks and mobile data don't count.
  • VPN off? VPNs hide devices from each other; turn them off on both ends.
  • Try the QR scan from the desktop app β€” it connects directly when discovery fails.
  • Restart the app on both devices.
